Midnight Metal, 2000? (Score: 7 / 10)

Straight from the heart of Sweden comes yet another thrash metal band, this time yielding the name Mindslip. Keep in mind I say this without an ounce of reluctance since Sweden seems to be the place where most great metal bands are born.

Released in early to mid-2000 "Dissident" is a 4 track EP which offers up some fairly hard-edged thrash metal with a very light death metal guitar over-tone. The vocals are quite possibly the only thing that make this release seem like a demo, everything else is put together quite nicely. Since this album was produced on a strict independent basis, I'm more than willing to forgive the somewhat lacklustre vocals.

Maybe "Dissident" isn't the release, which will grab your attention, but I assure you once Mindslip has had a chance to gain some speed on the highway of metal, you'll be begging for mercy!
